Plaster Skimming
Plaster skimming to plasterboards is a common method of providing a smooth, seamless surface ready to receive decorative treatment. The plaster is applied to the wall or ceiling surface to a nominal 3mm thickness. Plasterboards, existing painted walls & artex can all recieve a plaster skim coat. Depending on the current state of the surface and depths you are working to a backing plaster may be required. This will then be 'floated' (levelled out) ready for skimming.
Plasterboards can be fixed by either using an adhesive & a 'dot & dab' method or 'tacked' to timber studs, ceiling joists etc. The boards will then be skimmed or if using tapered edge boards the joints can just be filled. This stage of the process gives you the chance to greatly improve the insulative qualities of your property with the specialist range of plasterboards available & insulation products fitted behind or above the boards.
Renders
Renders are diverse products in comparison to traditional sand and cement of many years ago. The modern render may be mineral or synthetic, traditional or thin in respect of its thickness and offers various methods to achieve a finish. Not only will rendering add to the aesthetic appearance of a property it is a major form of insulation & protection against damp.
There are many different products, choices & methods to consider nowadays, after giving a thourough & honest survey, it is our aim to help advise & find the best outcome for you & your property.
